Remarkable Spotlights
Jordan Carr(she/her), Director for Academic Counseling and Student Support, has been at Columbia Law School for eight years! She oversees the academic advising program, and, in addition to general academic advising, is the main advisor for transfer students and domestic dual degree students. She works with students, staff, and faculty to curate academic support and well-being events. She received a master’s degree in higher and postsecondary education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and her bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University.
Jordan loves spending time with her partner, Ramon, and her four-year-old rescue dog, Bacchus.
Fun Fact(s): Jordan’s most recent favorite trip was when she checked a “bucket list” item off last year by seeing her favorite band—The Killers—in Las Vegas, where they performed their debut album in its entirety!
Jill Casal (she/her) has spent two decades as part of the Law School's administrative team, and is currently the Director of Admissions. In this role, she oversees all admitted student programming and the three- and four-year J.D./MBA programs, including student advising. Prior to her role in J.D. Admissions, she oversaw the admissions, financial aid, and recruiting functions for our graduate degree programs and served as an academic advisor to thousands of international LL.M. students. She received her master’s degree in higher education from Harvard University and her undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College.
Jill is an active volunteer in her family's school community just north of the city, where she and her husband are raising two teenagers and a labradoodle named Jack.
Fun fact: Jill was a competitive ski racer (alpine) growing up in her native Maine, and while skiing is still her favorite sport, she now prefers a bluebird, hard-packed surface skiing day with her family, just for fun.
